Sinas, NTF-ELCAC imbestigahan sa ‘bloody sunday ops’

DAPAT imbestigahan si dating Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas at mga opisyal ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) sa pagkakasangkot sa pagkamatay ng siyam na aktibista sa ‘Bloody Sunday operations’ noong nakaraang taon sa Timog Katagalugan.

Panawagan ito ng human rights group Karapatan sa administra­syong Duterte matapos sampahan ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ng kasong murder ang 17 pulis dahil sa pagkamatay ng mag-asawang aktibista sa ‘Bloody Sunday operations’ noong 7 Marso 2021.

“As we welcome the filing of murder complaints against the police perpetrators of the killing of Ariel and Ana Mariz Evangelista, we urge the Task Force on Administrative Order 35 to include in their inves-tigations the culpability of officials of NTF-ELCAC and former PNP chief Debold Sinas who incited and encouraged violence on the organizations of the slain human rights defenders and/or justified the police and military operations in Southern Tagalog on March 7, 2021 which resulted in the killings of nine indivi-duals and the arrest of four rights defenders as ‘legitimate law enforce-ment operations’,” anang Karapatan sa isang ka-latas. Kailangan din uma­nong managot ang hukom na nag-isyu ng search warrants at mga pulis sa antas ng rehiyon at probinsoya gayondin ang mga opisyal ng militar.

Nauna rito’y inihayag ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na ang iba pang kaso kaugnay sa Bloody Sunday operations ay sinisiyasat din ng AO 35 Committee. Ang komite ay ang Inter-Agency Committee on Extra-legal Killings, Enforced Disappearances, Torture and Other Grave Violations of the Rights to Life, Liberty, and Security of Persons na itinatag ni dating Pangulong Benig­no Aquino III noong 2012.
