HALOS isang taon bago idaos ang 2022 national elections, napasakamay ng Duterte crony ang kontrol sa 1/5 supply ng elekstrisidad sa buong bansa.
Sa pinakahuling ulat, kontrolado na ng pamosong Duterte oligarch at Davao City-based businessman na si Dennis Uy ang Malampaya gas field sa Palawan.
Napaulat nitong nakaraang linggo, hawak na ng Udena Corporation ang 90% operating interest sa Malampaya matapos bilhin ang 45% stake ng Shell Philippines Exploration (SPEX) at 45% interest ng Chevron Malampaya LLC’s sa gas field noong 2019.
Ayon sa Department of Energy (DoE), ang Malampaya Gas Field ang “biggest and by far only the second commercial gas discovery in the Philippines to date.”
Nagtataglay ito ng “2.7 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of natural gas reserves and 85 million barrels of condensate, located some 3,000 meters below sea level.”
Sa Malampaya nagmumula ang supply ng natural gas sa limang power plants sa Luzon na pinanggagalingan ng 1/5 elektrisidad sa buong bansa.
Bukod sa Malampaya, nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kamakailan ang 25-year franchise ng Dito Telecommunity ni Uy.
Sa panahon ng administrasyong Duterte ay naging third telecommunications player ang Dito.
Sa kanyang “Talk to the Troops” sa Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Headquarters sa Jolo, Sulu noong 13 Hulyo 2020, sinabi ng Pangulo, “‘Yung kaibigan kong tumutulong, ‘pag yumaman ka nang yumaman, mas maligaya ako.
