PAHALAGAHAN nang husto ang kalayaang natamo sa 1986 People Power Revolution.
Ito ang panawagan sa publiko ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pagdiriwang ng ika-33 anibersaryo ng 1986 People Power Revolution.
Mensahe ng Pangulo, umaasa siyang hindi makalimutan ng sambayanang Filipino ang demokrasyang umiiral sa bansa sa kasalukuyan ay bunga nang pakikibaka ng mga mamamayan.
“I am hopeful that this occasion will inspire all of us, especially the younger generation, to deeply value the freedom and liberty that we won in EDSA,” ayon sa Pangulo.
“Let us never forget the sacrifice of those who came before us so that we may always be motivated to preserve and protect the democratic way of life that we enjoy today,” dagdag niya.
Ipinaalala ng Pangulo sa mga mamamayan na gaya noong unang People Power Revolution, may kapangyarihan ang mga botante na iguhit ang kapalaran ng bansa.
“As the entire nation prepares for the upcoming Midterm Elections this May, let us always remember how this historic revolution restored our power to collectively chart our future through the ballot,” aniya.
“May we all have a profound sense of appreciation and understanding of what we lost and what we reclaimed,” sabi ng Pangulo.
Giit niya, ang 1986 EDSA People Power ay katotohanan na puwedeng isulat muli ang kasaysayan kahit hindi gumamit ng karahasan.
“Indeed, the peaceful revolution that brought together Filipinos from all walks of life during those tense four days of February 1986 has given rise to a Philippines that was reborn from the ashes of its tumultuous past,” aniya.
Mula nang maluklok sa Malacañang, hindi dumadalo sa selebrasyon ng 1986 People Power Revolution si Duterte na ayon sa kanyang mga kritiko ay bunsod sa pagiging magkaibigan nila ng mga Marcos.
Paliwanag ni Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, marami lamang trabaho ang Pangulo kaya no-show sa naturang okasyon ngunit ang mensahe ng Punong Ehekutibo sa anibersaryo ay ebidensiya na suportado niya ito.
