Gie Shock Jose, aminadong na-challenge nang todo sa MoM

NAKAPANAYAM namin si Gie Shock Jose, Production Designer ng pinag-uusapang pelikulang Martyr or Murderer na isinulat at pinamahalaan ni Direk Darryl Yap. 

Ito ang buwena manong sinabi niya sa amin sa aming huntahan thru FB. “Ako po si Marc Jayson Jose, puwede nyo rin po akong tawagin sa pangalan na “Gie”.

“Yes. ako po ang Production Designer ng Martyr or Murderer, as a production designer, I’m responsible for designing the look and feel of the movie visual elements.”

Pagpapatuloy pa ni Gie, “Nag-umpisa ako sa film industry noong 2010 as a graphic artist under Production Designer Ericson Navarro, para sa project na Regal Shockers at mga Regal films project. Then 2012, nag-start ang career ko as Art Director, I worked with directors like Jun Lana, Erik Matti, Joey Reyes, Yam Laranas, at marami pa. Then, my first break as a Production Designer was with Direk Chris Cahilig para sa TVC project.

“My first full-length film naman is Crush Kong Curly by Direk GB Sampedro at Kinsenas Katapusan is my second full-length. My third is Angkas by Direk Rain Yamson, my fourth is Deleter by Direk Mikhael Red and my fifth is MoM by the one and only Direktor, Darryl Yap.”

Saang movie niya na naka-work si Direk Darryl?

Aniya, “Naka-work ko si Direktor Yap sa second full-length niya na “Paglaki ko Gusto Kong Maging Porsntar” as an Art Director for advance setup, then “Ang Mananaggal na nahahati ang puso” at “Barumbadings”. Ito yung time na nabago ang workflow sa industry because of covid, kaya ang title ko that time “Art Director for Advance Setup”.

“Then, Martyr or Murderer is the first movie I did with Direktor Yap as a Production Designer,” pakli pa niya.

Ayon pa kay Gie, ibang klaseng level ang challenge ng MoM.

Lahad niya, “Yung level lang ng challenge ng MoM, is above the clouds, mainly because, MALAKI ANG PELIKULA, mabigat ang requirements, may actual footages na kailangan i-recreate, dapat mag-match or if not, dapat medyo malapit yung look sa actual event. Then yung availability ng mga items din like props and set pieces na kailangan i-source bilang iba’t ibang years ang timeline namin, researching ng mga flowers na available during that period dahil isa ito sa visual device na nagre-represent ng Marcos family and managing a large group of Art Department-dapat on top ka of everything as a team leader para ma-execute nang tama ang bawat eksena.

“Tho, Direktor Yap and DP Rain Yamson naman are very talented filmmakers and very easy to please, actually yung buong MoM Team talagang magaan katrabaho, lahat ng department, kaya napapadali ang mga bagay-bagay. Malaking factor din kasi sa challenges yung happy set, kapag puro sigawan, puyatan, stress mas nawawala yung brilliance ng individual, then naco-compromise yung quality ng work.

“May mahusay kaming kapitan kaya siguro yung malakas na alon, nadadaanan lang namin na parang kalmadong dagat,” makahulugang pahayag pa ni Gie.
