NAKAHANDA ang mga kongresista na sumuporta sakaling hilingin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na palawigin pa ang 60-araw martial law sa Mindanao.
Ayon kina Deputy Speakers Fredenil Castro at Gwendolyn Garcia, tiwala sila sa liderato ni Pangulong Duterte at sa pagtaya ng huli sa pangangailangan nang pagpapalawig ng batas militar.
“Well I can only surmise that lawmakers are out to support the president’s request because if they support it, the proclamation of martial law and the bases of martial is still there, then I don’t see any reason why the Senate and House of Representatives will withhold its support for an extension requested by the president,” ani Castro.
Habang sinabi ni Garcia, maraming impormasyon ukol sa rebelyon sa Mindanao na ang Pangulo ang naka-aalam bilang commander-in-chief ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Giit ng dalawang kongresista, nagtitiwala ang Kamara sa ano mang magiging desisyon ng presidente dahil naaayon ito sa batas.

INIHAYAG ng Philippine National Police nitong Lunes, inirekomenda nila ang pagpapalawig ng martial law sa Mindanao upang arestohin ang mga politikong sangkot sa illegal drug trade, ina-kusahan nilang nagpondo sa extremist groups sa inilunsad na kaguluhan sa Marawi City.
Ang 60-day effectivity ng martial rule, na idineklara ni Pa-ngulong Rodrigo Duterte kasu-nod nang madugng sagupaan ng mga tropa ng gobyerno at ng Islamic State-inspired militants, ay matatapos sa susunod na linggo
“Meron kaming position paper na ini-submit last Friday, expressing our stand [on] extending the martial law… pero hindi kami naglagay ng period basta, we are for the extension… The same ang scope, buong Min- danao,” pahayag ni PNP chief, Director General Ronald dela Rosa.
“‘Yung mga identified na narco-politicians who we believe to be supporting the cause of the Maute group still applies… Hulihin muna natin sila,” aniya.
Nitong 4 Hulyo, ibinasura ng Supreme Court ang mga petis-yong kumukuwestiyon sa deklarasyon ng martial law. Tinatayang 500 katao ang napatay simula nang sumiklab ang sagupaan sa Marawi City noong 23 Mayo.
