IBINIDA ni Sharon Cuneta ang makabagbag-damdaming liham ng kanilang anak ni senatorial candidate Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan na si Kakie na talaga namang kitang-kita ang pagmamahal at importansiya sa kanya ng ama.
Isang sulat kamay ang ibinahagi ni Kakie para kay Kiko na ipinost ni Sharon sa kanyang Instagramaccount. May caption iyong, “Our dearest Kakie paused from completing all her graduation requirements and wrote this heartfelt letter for all the Mayors in our country to ask for their help for her Daddy. We are so blessed with the most loving, supportive children who are as devoted to us as we are to them! Thank you, Baba. We love you so very much.”
Iba nga naman ang dating ng isang sulat kamay sa panahon ngayon na puro gadget at techie na ang uso.
Isang sulat nga ang ginawa ng 24-anyos na singer/songwriter para sa mga mayor ng lungsod sa buong bansa. Ipinakilala ni Frankie, o Kakie, ang kanyang sarili bilang pangalawang anak nina Kiko at Sharon, at isang pribadong mamamayan na naghahanda para sa kanyang pagtatapos sa kolehiyo.
Panimula ni Kakie, “As I compose this message, l am sitting cross-legged amidst a sea of colorful post-its and index cards and stray sheets of paper, all front-and-back and end-to-end inked in service of my thesis. All this to say I have a real passion for the handwritten in this age of digital impermanence, which is why this letter means very much to me. I hope it reaches you with warmth,” aniya. “With it, I send a sincere and humble optimism that you might consider supporting my dad in the upcoming election.”
Binanggit din ni Kakie na sa loob ng maraming taon, tiniis o tinanggap ng kanyang ama ang mga pag-alipusta o fake news na ibinabato kapag may kampanya gayundin ang mga maling representasyon ng kanyang karakter na “nakadudurog ng puso dahil hindi sila totoo.”
Binigyang-diin pa ni Frankie na ang kanyang amang si Kiko ay simple lamang na nag-iingat o tumatagal ang isang t-shirt sa pag-iingat nito, nakikinig pa rin ng disco music at nagdarasal na may kandila.
“Mahiyain po ang tatay ko,” ayon pa sa sulat. “Siya po mismo ang namimili na mga household groceries at namamalengke para sa amin, and he attends all our sport meets, recitals, parent-teacher conferences. He’s used the same watch and wallet for as long as I can remember, and wore the same pair of Converse sneakers for the 14 years. It took one of my cousins to notice at binilhan po siya ng bago, at ‘yon po mismo ang suot ni Daddy ngayon sa pagkampanya.”
“Habang buhay po siyang ganto,” pagpapatuloy pa ng bata. “He has served the Filipino people for over 20 years with this consistency, this diligence and discipline. And I know for certain that, with your help, he will continue to advocate for that which he has always stood for: FOOD SECURITY and the Filipino farmer.”
Pagkaraan ay may inamin ang anak nina Kiko at Sharon. Wala silang “pampulitikang makinarya,” o ni isang “bilyong pisong badyet” para itulak ang bid ng kanyang ama sa pagkasenador “sa kasing lakas ng nararapat sa kanya.”
“Tahmik lang po talaga si Daddy, but he has worked likewise tirelessly for years in pursuit of our agricultural development, the backbone of all our systems, our national economy, our entire lives.
“Isinusulat ko po ito para sa inyo bilang isang mamamayang naniniwalang mababait, malakas at matapat ang mga Filipino.
“Alam ko po na hindi laging madali ang tama, at madalas pa nga ang kabutihan ay maabot lamang sa dulo ng daang magulo at madilim.”
Sinabi pa ni Kakie na kung magdesisyon ang mga alkalde na suportahan ang kanyang ama, bibigyan siya ng mga ito ng walang katapusan at taos-pusong pasasalamat.
“We understand that resources are tight, and we cannot offer much in return, but should we succeed, you now have a most assured promise that we will support your local programs and whatever else you may need in the years to come.
“You will ALWAYS be part of the reason we continue to fight for food and for the people. Please help us carry his dream forward—for the future of our meal tables, for the dignity and protection of our farmers and fisherfolk, and for all of her Filipinos who still believe in compassionate leadership.”
