MAGIGING pang-araw-araw na kaganapan sa bansa ang military at police silent drill.
Ito’y bunsod ng direktiba kahapon ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine National Police (PNP) na maglunsad ng silent drill araw-araw gaya ng ginagawa ng People’s Liberation Army ng China.
Ayon sa Pangulo, layunin niyang maramdaman ng mga mamamayan na ligtas sila kaya isinusulong niya ang daily silent drill ng pulisya’t militar.
“I want the people to see soldiers and policemen doing the drill every day,” aniya sa PSG change of command ceremony sa Malacañang Park kahapon.
“It might really be a copycat but you’ve been to China and you’ve seen the drill that the military shows off to the people every day. It gives our people a sense of security and proud to see the uniformity in the cadence when military drills do it,” dagdag niya.
Nag-alok ang Pangulo ng hanggang P3 milyong premyo para sa magwawagi sa silent drill competition sa Disyembre.
Matatandaan, sa isinagwang 1st silent drill noong nakalipas na Disyebre 2019 na inilunsad ng Presidential Security Group ay nagwagi ang Philippine Military Academy at ang premyo nila’y P300,000.
Layunin ng naturang silent drill competition na suportahan ang pagsusumikap ni Pangulong Duterte na ibalik ang mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program.
