SA inilabas na Chairman’s statement ni Duterte bilang ASEAN chairman ngayong taon, nakasaad ang napagkasunduan na malagdaan ang Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (SEANWFZ).

Binigyan-diin dito ang komitment ng ASEAN, ang pagbabawal sa rehi-yong Southeast Asia sa nuclear weapons at weapons of mass destruction.

“We noted the Philippines’ hosting of a Working Group meeting of the SEANWFZ Executive Committee in May 2017 to continue discussions on the accession of the Nuclear Weapon States to the Protocol to the Treaty,” bahagi ng Chairman’s Statement.
