INIANUNSIYO ni Commissioner Jaime H. Morente ng Bureau of Immigration ang matagumpay na pagkakadakip sa puganteng high profile Belgian national sa NAIA Terminal II, sa pamamagitan ng INTERPOL database system.
Si Daveloose Franky Freddie, tinutugis ng Belgian government maka-raan takasan ang mga awtoridad, ay naaresto ng immigration officer habang paalis sa NAIA isang buwan makaraan magsanib ang BI at INTERPOL sa pagsugpo sa transnational crimes.
Ipinatupad simula noong Disyembre 2016, sa interconnectivity ng BI at INTERPOL database system, magagawang masabat at maaresto ng Immigration Officers ang transiting foreign national, sa pamamagitan ng real time biometric travels, criminal at personal na impormasyon ng suspek.
Sinabi ni Chief of Port Operations Division Marc Red Marinas, sa pamamagitan ng linkage ng BI at Interpol database system, nagkaroon ng access ang ating Immigration officers sa inpormasyon ng international criminal police organization, kaya ang arrival at departure formalities ay nalalapit na sa global standards.
“Fugitives, criminals, sex offenders, and foreign nationals wanted by their respective states and o-ther authorities may now be easily intercepted by our immigration officers through our dedicated partnership with the INTERPOL in ensuring security at our international ports,” pahayag ni Marinas.
Ang INTERPOL ng Brussels ay nagpapaha-yag ng pasasalamat sa Philippine Bureau of Immigrationsa pagkakada-kip sa nasabing pugante.
“Through the Immigration’s effort to aggressively target fugitive aliens entering or transiting in our borders, we continue to suppress and prevent possible crimes and atrocities to be committed by these undesirable aliens,” pahayag ni Morente. (JSY)
