IKINAGALAK ng Palasyo ang pagkadakip ng Interpol-Manila kamakalawa ng gabi sa magkapatid na sina Joel at Mario Reyes sa Phuket, Thailand, na wanted sa kasong pagpatay kay environmentalist-broadcaster Gerry Ortega.
Nagpasalamat ang Malacañang sa pamahalaan ng Thailand sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga awtoridad ng Filipinas para madakip ang Reyes brothers.
“We thank the cooperation and assistance of the Thailand government in the arrest of the Reyes brothers,” ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda.
Ang pagdakip sa magkapatid na pugante ay patunay aniya sa determinasyon ng administrasyong Aquino na makamtan ang hustisya sa pagpaslang kay Ortega.
“The President has said that government will go after the fugitives and the recent arrest of Gov Reyes and his brother prove the resolve of the government,” ani Lacierda.
Si Joel ay dating gobernador ng Palawan habang si Mario ay dating alkalde ng Coron.
Ang magkapatid ay may patong sa ulo na P2 milyon bawat isa.
