ISANG mainit na pagbati para kay William Thio sa pagkakahirang sa kanya ng Gawad Amerika bilang 2015 Most Promising News Personality.
Lilipad si William patungong Celebrity Center ng Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA para tatanggapin ang parangal ilang araw bago ganapin ang 2015 Gawad Amerika Awards Night sa November 7, 2015.
Kitang-kita sa reaksiyon ng UNTV’S Why News news anchor ang kaligayahan nang ibigay sa kanya ang sulat mula sa nasabing award-giving body na nagsasaad na isa siya sa mga awardee ng taunang parangal.
“Well, to be honest, I was very shocked!” anito. “Shocked is an understatement. Hindi ko talaga naisip eh. Nang nalaman ko lang a few months ago na isa akong nominee, malaking honor na ‘yun. Pero hindi ko akalain na tutuloy-tuloy siya.”
Part of the letter dated July 24, 2015 says and I quote, “Your success and remarkable achievements as a celebrity and as a news personality has empowered the Filipino and has been recognized not only by this organization but most of all, by the local community. “We are proud to have you as the recipient of the valued recognition and we hope that you will continue your sincere dedication and commitment in all of your future endeavors.”
Mahalaga para kay Thio ang parangal dahil, “I think the purpose for the award is to motivate you better in your craft, to hone yourself more and to realize that every recognition that you get whether it’s an award or it’s a compliment from a person or it’s an honor to be interviewed with somebody from the press.
“I think it just a marker that you are on the right track and that you need to continue on that path.”
Ikalawang beses na ang award na ito bilang newscaster kay Thio. Ang una ay noong 2012 na itinanghal siya bilang Most Inspiring News Anchor.
“Bagong-bago pa lang ako nag-news noon eh, and maliit lang siya na award. Ito ‘yung Top Brand Award.”
