Pagdami ng batang ina ikinaalarma ng Palasyo

NAALARMA ang Palasyo sa tumataas na bilang ng mga ‘batang ina’ sa Filipinas na ang itinuturong dahilan ay impluwensiya nang makabagong teknolohiya gaya nang paggamit ng internet at text.

Sa press briefing kahapon sa Malacañang, inihayag ni Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Executive Director Emmeline Verzosa, batay sa 2013 Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality (YAFS) survey, isa sa 10 kabataang babae o 13.6% sa edad 15-19 anyos ay may anak na.

Kaya aniya dapat magsimula sa paaralan at tahanan ang sex education, at mahalaga rin ang tulong ng media upang malutas ang suliranin sa premarital sex at pagbubuntis ng mga kabataang babae.

“What is worrisome in the YAFTS survey as well is that there is increasing trend of premarital sex and that is influenced by ICT (information and communications technology), you know, texting and SMS (short messaging services). They make friends through text and then they meet. And then, without any protection, they just do it. So that’s quite worrisome and that’s why it’s important to have education starting in the schools, in the home, of course, with a parental advice and everyone should—including the media—should cooperate to address this,” ani Verzosa.

Ang pagpapatupad aniya ng Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Law ay nanatiling prayoridad upang matiyak na ang kabataan at mahihirap ay magtamasa sa lahat ng mga serbisyo at pamamaraan upang iplano ang kanilang pamilya.
