KAMUKHANG-KAMUKHA talaga niya si Michael Jackson. Ito kaagad ang nasabi namin nang makita ng personal noong Martes si Rodrigo Teaser, ang gumagaya sa King of Pop.
Narito nga sa bansa si Rodrigo para sa kanyang Michael Lives Foreverconcert sa March 14, 8:00 p.m. at March 15, 3:00 at 8:00 p.m sa Newport Performing Arts Theater sa Pasay City.
Ayon kay Rodrigo nang makausap namin ito sa presscon ng Michael Lives Forever na ginawa sa Pardon My French, Makati, siyam na taong gulang pa lang siya ay ginagaya na niya ang pagkanta at pagsasayaw ni Michael. Kaya naman sinasabing siya ang pinakamahusay na impersonator ni MJ.
At para mas maging kamukhang-kamukha nga ni Michael si Rodrigo, hindi naman nito itinagong nagparetoke siya para mas maging kamukha ng kanyang idolo. Ipinaayos niya ang kanyang ilong.
“I had a nose job. It’s the one thing I did,” pag-amin ng 44-anyos na taga-Greater Sao Paulo, Brazil. At para maging kamukhang-kamukha idinadaan sa make-up.
“I think without makeup, I don’t look too much like Michael. Because the rest is only makeup. Without makeup, a lot of people said to me, ‘You look like Bruno Mars.’ And I said, ‘What?!’ “Bruno Mars? I don’t look like Michael?,” wika pa ni Rodrigo.
Sa concert iparirinig ni Rodrigo ang mga pinasikat na awitin ng King of Pop tulad ng Billie Jean, Thriller, Man in the Mirror (na pinaka-paborito niya sa mga kanta ni MJ) Beat It, Heal The World, Black or White, The Way You Make Me Feel at marami pang iba.
First time ni Rodrigo sa Pilipinas na naunang nagtangal bilang si MJ sa mga bansang Malaysia, China, at Singapore.
“I’m so happy to be here! Because in 1996, Michael performed in Manila.
“And for some reason, if you watched the shows from 1996, 1997, Michael was more like a serious guy.
But for some reason, Mike was so happy in Manila. That show became one of the most loved between the fans because between songs for the whole, I think the whole concert Michael was so happy, smiling, and he always said, ‘I love you, Manila!’
“Back then, I learned about Manila and I said, ‘Oh, for some reason Michael was so happy.’ And now I’m here, and I have to say I am very happy and very honored to be here.
“It’s my first time in the Philippines and I hope it’s not my last,” exciting na pagbabahagi ni Rodrigo.
Kasama ni Rodrigo sa Michael Lives Forever ang dancer at choreographer ni MJ gayundin ang back-up singer at co-director for more than 20 years.
Nang matanong si Rodrigo sa kung ano ang pinakamagandang bagay sa paggaya at pagkanta ng mga awitin ni Michael, sinabi nitong, “I think the best thing about performing is, I always said that I’m not an artist that learned how to impersonate Michael.
“I’m a fan, by impersonating my idol, learned that I could be an artist. So my whole vision is this like he is the one. That for me is the main point. It’s a tribute. I’m not trying to be like him because no one can be like him.
“I know that there’s a line that no one can cross that because it belongs to him. So the most beautiful for me is when you got a full venue and you see so many people singing and dancing, and remember how amazing Michael was.
“That’s the most amazing thing for me, because you can see that he is forever. Not only the songs but the feeling that we have for him.”
