The Office of the President suspended Dagupan City Councilors Redford Erfe-Mejia, Alipio “Alf” Serafin Fernandez, and Victoria Lim-Acosta, stemming from an accusation filed against the three for Disturbance of Proceeding, Grave Coercion, and Grave Oral Defamation.
According to the order signed by the Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs, Atty. Anna Liza Logan, the Office of the President found sufficient evidence of guilt among Erfe-Mejia, Fernandez, and Lim-Acosta to place them under preventive suspension for a period of 60 days.
In February, the City Prosecutor of Dagupan formally accused the three councilors after videos surfaced of Erfe-Mejia, Fernandez, and Lim-Acosta’s disruptive behavior during a city council session.
Copies of the video that reached social media showed Erfe-Mejia trying to wrestle control of the session by snatching microphones away from other officials, then delivering a tirade against others present in the session as well as demanding to lock the room to prevent anyone inside from leaving.
The preventive suspension by Malacañang issued on October 30, 2024, is ordered effective immediately.
