NAGLALAKIHANG-ARTISTA ang nakiisa sa pasinaya ng auditorium ng Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) kahapon ng umaga sa bago nilang tanggapan sa Julia Vargas extension Pasig City.
Pinangunahan ni Mayor Vico Sotto ng Pasig ang ribbon cutting kasama sina Piolo Pascual, Derek Ramsay, Enchong Dee, at Dingdong Dantes kasama si MMDA acting chairman at concurrent Metro Manila Film Festival over-all Chairman Atty Don Artes.
Dumalo rin sa event sina Eugene Domingo Alessandra de Rossi, Erin Espiritu, Kylie Versoza, at Ms Boots Anson-Rodrigo.
Magsisilbing venue sa selebrasyon at promosyon ng Filipino artistic talent at creativity ang pinasinayaang auditorium. Itinayo rin ito dahil sa commitment na suportahan at bigyang halaga ang local film industry sa pamamagitan ng taunang MMFF.
Ayon kay Chair Artes, ang MMDA ay naka-commit sa pagbibigay-suporta sa mga plano at programa ng MMFF para sa benepisyo ng mga pelikula at entertainment industry.
“This is a milestone for the MMFF, a fitting tribute to its almost five-decade success which greatly contributes to Philippine cinema, producing films that have been recognized not just in out country but also internationally,” giit ni Atty Artes.
Nakadisenyo ang MMFF Auditorium, na nasa ikalimang palapag ng bagong MMDA Head Office sa Pasig City, na tulad ng isang sinehan na mayroong malaking screen at 152 comfortable theater seats.
Ang pasilidad na ito ay venue rin para sa iba’t ibang events ng film festival.
“Through the MMFF Auditorium, we aim to honor the invaluable contributions of Filipino filmmakers and recognize the significance of Philippine cinema in the overall cultural developmental effort for the country,” dagdag pa ni Atty Artes.
Samantala, positibo si Artes na ang 49th edition ng MMFF ay magtatala ng bagong record dahil sa malawak nitong range ng genre, kaya naman iniimbitahan nila ang publiko na panoorin ang 10 pelikula at suportahan ang festival, na may malaking parte sa tradisyon ng Kapaskuhan ng mga Pinoy.
Ang sampung pelikula na kasali sa MMFF ay ang A Family of 2 (A Mother and Son Story); Kampon, Penduko, Rewind, Becky and Badette, Broken Heart’s Trip, Firefly, GomBurZa, Mallari, at When I Met You in Tokyo na lahat ay mapapanood mula December 25 hanggang January 7 sa lahat ng mga sinehan.
Walang foreign film ang ipalalabas sa mga sinehan habang nagaganap ang festival.
Inorganisa ng MMDA, layunin ng MMFF na mai-promote at mapalawig and preservation ng Philippine cinema.
Ang taunang MMFF ay ibinahagi sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Charity Sweeptakes Office.
Ang kikitain sa MMFF ay itutulong sa ilang beneficiaries sa film industry tulad ng Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund), Film Academy of the Philippines, Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, Optical Media Bord, at Film Development Council of the Philippines.
