Elorta naghari sa Kamatyas

MANILA — Nakalikom si National Master David Elorta ng  1.5 points sa last two round para tanghaling overall champion sa katatapos na Kamatyas Fide Rated Invitational Rapid Tournament 4th Edition na ginanap sa SM Sucat Building B sa Parañaque City nitong Sabado, 20 Agosto 2022.

Si Elorta, tambay ng Tarrash Knight Chess Club sa Guadalupe Mall sa Makati City ay giniba si Fide Master Narquingden “Arden” Reyes sa eight at penultimate round at nakipaghatian ng puntos kay Narquingel “Archie” Reyes sa ninth at final round para tumapos ng eight points mula sa account na seven wins at two draws sa tough, nine-round tournament na inorganisa ni International Master Roderick Nava ng Kamatyas Chess Club at sanctioned ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) sa gabay ni president/ chairman Prospero “Butch” Pichay, Jr., sa pagtataguyod ni businessman/sportsman David Almirol, Jr., ng Multysis Technologies Corporations.

Si Elorta, may palayaw na Haring David sa chess world ay malakas na binuksan ang kanyang kampanya matapos gibain sina Francis Talaboc sa first round, National Master Prince Mark Aquino sa second round,  Johann Cedrick Gaddi sa third round, Fide Master Roel Abelgas sa fourth round, International Master Ronald Dableo sa fifth round at International Master Ricardo De Guzman sa sixth round at tabla kay Grandmaster John Paul Gomez sa seventh round.

Si International Master Roderick Nava of Kamatyas Chess Club ang nagawad ng P30,000 top prize kay Elorta.

Limang players, sina Grandmaster Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr., Grandmaster John Paul Gomez, International Master Ronald Dableo, Narquingel Reyes, at International Master Michael Concio, Jr., ay magkasalo sa second hanggang sixth places na may tig 7.0 points.

Bida rin sina Fide Master Narquingden Reyes, Fide Master Alekhine Nouri, International Master Chito Garma, at Fide Master Nelson “Elo” Mariano III na magkasalo sa seventh hanggang 10th places na may tig 6.5 points. (MARLON BERNARDINO)
