INILUNSAD last June 8, 2018 sa Activity Center ng Harbor Point Ayala Mall ang unang Subic Bay International Film Festival (SBIFF). Pinangunahan nina Direk Arlyn Dela Cruz-Bernal at Ms. Vic V. Vizcocho Jr., bilang mga Film Festival Directors ang naturang event. Ang dalawang batikang mamamahayag ay kapwa tubong Olongapo.
Ang anim na kalahok dito ay Bhoy Intsik ni Direk Joel Lamangan, Neal Tan’s Balatkayo mula sa BG Productions International ni Ms. Baby Go, Cia Hermosa-Jorge’s Old Skool, Dominic Nuesa’s Ang Araw sa Likod Mo, CC Woodruff Jr’s Rolyo, at Isang Hakbang ni Direk Mike Magat. Libreng mapapanood ang nasabing mga pelikula sa Harbor Point Cinemas mula June 22-24.
Kabilang sa paglalabanang eight major awards ang mga sumusunod: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best in Cinematography,Best in Production Design, at Best in Music.
Tatanggap sa award’s night ng special awards sina Ms. Jaclyn Jose (Filipino International Artist Award), Mr. Eddie Garcia (Philippine Cinema Legacy Award) at Direk Elwood Perez (Master in Cinema Awards).
Ayon kay Direk Arlyn, “It is our chance to give back by creating what we call waves of opportunities to filmmakers through the Subic Bay International Film Festival.”
Ipinahayag ni Mr. Vizcocho, “We want to bring back the interest in Subic Bay as a premiere destination for filmmakers, local and international, because we have much to offer, in terms of story ideas, manpower, resources, talents, and locations.”
