NAGBABALA si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na sususpendehin o tatanggalin sa puwesto ang barangay officials na may mataas na drug-related crimes sa kanilang komunidad.
Sinabi ng Pangulo, kailangan magpaliwanag ang barangay chairman kay Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) officer-in-charge Eduardo Año kapag nanatiling talamak pa rin ang illegal drugs at krimen sa kanilang pamayanan.
“If there are many drug addicts and rape cases and you still won’t take action, General Año will have you called. Explain to me in 72 hours why most of the cases in your barangay are drug-related,” anang Pangulo sa kanyang talumpati sa mass oathtaking ng bagong halal na barangay officials sa Lapu-lapu City, Cebu noong Biyernes.
Ang anomang paliwanag aniya ng barangay chairman ay ipabubusisi niya sa intelligence community bago niya suspendehin o tanggalin sa puwesto.
“Many were raped while some were stabbed. Then I will file the — I’ll make the same recommendation. When I see it, I will validate it with the intelligence community. If they say, “It’s true, sir,” I will suspend or dismiss you administratively,” aniya.
“I will remove all your powers. And I will decide. Gross neglect of duty. It’s a dismissable offense. But if you are just working hard and somehow get entangled, then you go to General Año. Explain to him,” giit ng Pangulo.
Ipinahiwatig ng Pangulo na maaari niyang ipa-wiretap ang barangay execs kaya’t hindi siya puwedeng linlangin dahil puwede niyang marinig ang pakikipag-usap nila sa telepono kahit kanino.
“If it’s true, I will check it and have it counter-checked as well. I did not lack in — I take care of everyone. I can hear you even in your phone calls. I can intercept you. Even if you’re in the Middle East, if you’re calling someone in the Philippines, I can hear what you are saying,” dagdag niya.
Bago idinaos ang barangay at SK elections noong 14 Mayo ay naglabas ng drug list ng barangay officials ang DILG at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
