Kung sa regular taxis raw na mga praning ang driver at nagde-demand ng extra-fee, Coleen Garcia explains why she favors Uber and Grab instead of regular taxis.

“I used to ride regular taxis alone every single day to get around, and on most days, they did NOT make me feel safe. #WeWantUberGrab

“Some were rude and obnoxious, some cat-called, some demanded more money. #WeWantUberGrab

“Not an endorser but I’ve personally experienced their convenience and good service. How are they not safer? I don’t understand. #WeWantUberGrab”

However, a netizen countered by saying that these ride-hailing services sprouted “like mushroom that clog the streets of Manila,” hence, a regulation is needed.

But Coleen quickly countered that Uber and Grab cars weren’t the main reasons for the deplorable traffic situation within the metropolis and immediately posted a photo of EDSA being clogged by four buses causing the traffic jam.

Also, Coleen narrated the story on how she was almost kidnapped by a taxi driver while on EDSA.

Nagko-commute raw siya noon from Kyusi to Alabang and vice versa while working.

Halos 19 years old lang daw siya when this incident happened. Christmas season daw noon and you know naman how hailing a taxi at this time of the year was basically deplorable.

Somewhere in Alabang, bigla na lang daw siyang ibinaba ng driver sa ‘sketchy part’ ng EDSA.

Dahil sa na-overcome na panic, pinara raw niya ang unang taxi na nakita at ni hindi tiningnan ang plate number.

Sinabi raw ng driver na magde-detour sila para bumili ng gas.

‘Di raw siya pumayag at sinabi niyang along EDSA na lang sila maghanap ng gas station pero ayaw raw ng driver.

Anyway, dahil sa bumper-to-bumper traffic situation, nakababa raw siya sa taxi while panic was welling up inside of her.

‘Yan ang dahilan kung bakit mas gusto ni Coleen ang mga Uber and Grab taxi instead of the usual taxi na karamiha’y malasado at walang urbanidad ang mga driver.

‘Yun nah!
