TILA naghahamon ang mga binitiwang salita ni Johnny Manahan, ang legendary star maker nang pumira ng partnership contract sa MQuest Ventures at MQuest Artists Agency (MQAA) noong Novemer 6, 2025.
Pinaghahanda kasi nito ang lahat dahil bubulabugin niya ang TV5 sa pagdiskubre ng mga bagong breed ng Kapatid artist.
Hindi nga naman malayong mangyari iyon dahil siya ang nagdiskubre sa tulad nina Piolo Pascual, Bea Alonzo, Claudine Barretto, John Lloyd Cruz at marami pang iba noong ito ang nasa Star Magic ng ABS-CBN.
Dumalo sa contract signing ang MediaQuest, Cignal TV, at MQAA execs, sa pangunguna nina Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) at Jane Jimenez-Basas. At bilang paunang hakbang, inanunsyo ng entertainment icon/director ang pagpapalit ng pangalan ng MQAA bilang Starworx.
Pre-pandemic pa unang nag-usap sina Mr M at MVP tungkol sa posibilidad ng isang partnership.
Hindi lang ito kaagad naisakatuparan dahil ani Mr M, “Perhaps the signs were not there yet because nothing came out of our conversations. But today, years later, I find all roads leading to MVP’s doorway.
“This time, the stars are good. Besides giving me a very warm reception, MVP has given me a mandate to build a world-class, in-your-face artists center that would discover and train the artists of the new decade because MVP knows that it is stars that are at the center of content-making business, not the directors, not the writers or scripts, the stars.”
Sinabi pa ng star maker na, “No stars, no content. You better believe it. And yes, ladies and gentlemen, we will be in the business of star making. We have been at it for some time now and more than ever, we know what works and what won’t.
“What is a star? Ano ba ‘yung star? A star is someone who can capture your imagination, drive you crazy, and who can separate your well-earned money from you. Yup, that’s a star, (mag)babayad ka para sa star. The star dictates how much you pay, and pay you will.”
Iginiit din ni Mr. M na hindi sila baguhan ni MVP sa larangang ito at hindi ito ang kanilang “first rodeo.”
“Guys like us are older, wiser and handsomer, and we know that this project will demand money and enterprise. Your money… and our enterprise. I do not know what tomorrow brings, but I can promise you, MVP, Jane, Sienna (Olaso), that I will do my best because you deserve the best.
“Perhaps in time you will consider what we will have built here as one of the jewels in the crown of your MVP group,” sabi pa ni Mr M.
