San Juan Wellness Hub leads move from late care to early prevention

The newly opened San Juan Medical Center (SJMC) Wellness Hub, built with SM Foundation, delivers care through a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, nutritionists, therapists, fitness coaches, and counselors.

SM Foundation, in partnership with the San Juan Medical Center and the Local Government of San Juan, officially opened the hospital’s new Wellness Hub on October 8. 

The facility is designed to advance preventive healthcare and provide holistic services to patients, healthcare workers, and the surrounding community.

Strategically located within the hospital, the Wellness Hub offers an accessible and calming space apart from high-stress clinical areas, while remaining close enough for immediate medical referrals. It is open during regular hospital hours, with select services available after-hours, and accommodates both appointments and walk-in visits.

The new facility houses a variety of dedicated spaces, including the Nursing Lounge, Changing Area, TeenThrive Women’s Health, Men’s Health, Lifestyle Medicine, Comprehensive Care Suite, Sight & Sound, Diagnostic Suite, and Meditation Chapel. Upcoming additions such as Bite and Smile (Dental), Clear Imaging (Radiology), and Kinetics and Vitality (Gym) will further expand its services.

The Teen Thrive Women’s Health section is one of the dedicated space inside the hub that offers programs such as health screenings, nutrition counseling, stress management, fitness classes, mental health support, and patient education.

Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, nutritionists, therapists, fitness coaches, and counselors, supported by modern tools and community partnerships.

With the revitalization of the section of the hospital, SM Foundation supports San Juan Medical Center’s mission to become a pioneer in green healthcare and its commitment to contribute to the national health goals by 2030, which emphasize universal access to quality health services and stronger efforts to prevent and manage noncommunicable diseases.

To boost its support beyond the hub, the foundation rolled out a medical mission alongside the turnover. The mission provided free services such as ECG, X-ray, and blood screening, as well as essential medicines. Patients requiring additional treatment were endorsed to San Juan Medical Center for continued care.

Through thoughtfully designed spaces such as the meditation chapel, the hospital seeks to cultivate wellness in all its dimensions—spiritual, emotional, physical, and social.

In support of SJMC’s YAKAP program implementation, SM Foundation extended its Health and Medical Programs through the rollout of the DigiHub initiative at the hospital.
