Boundary agreement nilagdaan ng PH, Indonesia

SINAKSIHAN nina Pangulong Benigno S. Aquino III at Excellency Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Pangulo ng Republic of Indonesia, ang paglagda nina Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario at Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. R.M. Marty Natalegawa sa Agreement on the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) Boundary sa Reception Hall ng Malacañang Palace kahapon. (JACK BURGOS)

IKINAGALAK nina Pangulong Benigno “Noy-noy” Aquino III at Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ang nilagdaang Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia Concerning the Delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone Boundary.

Ito ay 20 taon tinalakay at isinailalim sa negosasyon.

Layunin ng kasunduan na maiwasan ang overlapping ng mga teritoryo ng Filipinas at Indonesia sa Celebes at Mindanao Sea.

Sinabi ni Pangulong Aquino, maituturing itong milestone agreement sangayon sa international law partikular ng United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Patunay aniya ito sa commitment ng Filipinas at Indonesia na resolbahin sa payapang paraan ang maritime concerns.

Bukod dito, nilagdaan din sa harap nina Pangulong Aquino at Yudhoyono ang Memorandum of Understanding on Higher Education Cooperation at Memorandum of Understanding on Combating International Terrorism.
