“Today, coal and other fossil fuels dominate our power mix not because they are the best option for consumers, but because contracts for these fuels are most profitable for private power companies,” giit ni  Oyette Zacate, tagapagasalita ng Progressive.

“We find the government’s recent call out against abuses by water firms to be agreeable, but as electricity consumers, we demand that the same accountability be asked of power players who have long been benefiting from an energy sector whose rules have been protecting their, and not the public’s, interest,” ayon kay  Gerry Arances, Convenor ng  Power for People Coalition (P4P).

“The government can much more easily walk the President’s SONA 2019 talk of ending coal dependence and fast-tracking the development of renewable technologies. We remind them that as public servants, providing Filipinos with clean and affordable electricity is their duty,” dagdag ni Arances.

Sinabi ni Flora Santos, coordinating council member of the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ), ang Noche Buena ay maituturing na isa nang ‘luho’ ngayon at dumarami na ang pamilyang Filipino ang nahihirapan dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng bayarin sa tubig at elektrisidad.

Dagdag ng grupo, ang Electricity and Power Industry Reform Act of 2000, ay nararapat nang muling repasohin at rebyuhin.
